AEON B2-Team: Season 7, Session 10 – Putting it All Together

Dramatis Personae

  • Amar Gupta aka The Iron Sikh  (played by Christian): Brick. Taxi Driver. Ass-Kicker. Sikh. Tagline: “Being a man of faith means to live it.”
  • Amie-Belle T. W. Lee aka Whisper (Played by Curtis): Cold War era super-soldier/spy that got put in the Freezer, because she got poisoned. After getting thawed out and cured she tried to back to work, and was given an “adjustment period”. Uncle Sam called 2 years later, with work… because once you’re in, you’re in for life. Tagline: “In and out without a whisper.”
  • Beauregard K. “Bo” Ratnam aka Wirerat (Played by Brice): Technopath, inventor, and hacker. He specializes in co-opting enemy systems and tech assets. Tagline: “Nice tech – I’ll borrow that.”
  • Rafe Hanlon aka Nyx (played by Chris D.): An umbrakinetic petty thief still on work release several years later, on his way to becoming a true agent and hero. Tagline: “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
  • Vincenzo L. dePrezzo aka Threshold (Played by Rory): Doctor, Mathematician, and Scientist (yes, capitals) and Spatial Manipulator. Threshold can bend space like a pretzel, teleport, obliterate things, and has extraordinary senses. He’d rather be in a research lab than fight. Better known for his work with Doctors Without Borders, the United Nations, and disaster relief than famous battles. Tagline: “I can be there in a snap!”
  • Derrick K. Ratnam aka Legerdemain (NPC Ally): Spin doctor and media liaison for Project VANGUARD. Twin to Bo. Tagline: “Well, actually that’s not how it happened…”
  • Layla A. de Blackburn aka Nox (NPC): CIA-trained child assassin all grown up to be Daddy’s Little Monster. Maybe a little mad. Argues with her shadow often. Tagline: “No, we shouldn’t do that…should we?”
  • Stainless Steel Rat aka “Sir” (NPC Ally): Bo’s best friend and assistant. A sentient drone in the shape of a stylized shiny metal rat mindlinked to Bo. Specialties are rapid repair construction and modifications. Imagine if K-9 and R2D2 made a baby and it looks a bit like a rodent. Tagline: “Repairs and upgrades in progress.”

Previously . . .

Nox is at a workstation carefully combing through footage, using two computers at the same time. Prodigy is bothering Nyx to not eat at Frank’s Franks and that she wants a hamburger. Nyx suggests that maybe Frank will do a smash dog if she asks nicely which doesn’t please her until it’s finally suggested that she just eats back at the base, they probably have hamburger ingredients there.

While Nyx and Prodigy spend the hour riding the bus, they go through Fracture’s file from the prison while August’s belongings where the only strange thing going on is that there’s a pair of dress shoes that don’t quite go with his normal fashion which is more relaxed, not even with a guard uniform. They’re pretty expensive shoes and won’t fit Nyx’s feet. The address on the key leads to a local credit union with security deposit boxes, but at 8 at night on a weeknight, it’s not like they’re going to be open. Finally, they look through Fracture’s file which indicates that she’s had quite a few trips to the medical wing during her stay. It doesn’t take long until they’re back at the HQ.

Who’s Lindy McCall?

Nyx, Threshold, Whisper, and Wirerat
Old FDNY Engine 299/Ladder 152 Building aka New Base

Back at the base, Threshold is still doing his exam on the dogs, making sure they’re all healthy. Wirerat is building them voice collars and linking them into the HQ security as well. Whisper is cooking up food.

Whisper is cooking while Threshold keeps doing his exams. Wirerat sets up a panic button the size of a lapel pin that has some cameras and other information. Whisper has cooked up some food when Prodigy comes in eating some hamburger and fries they got on the way, but it’s quickly abandoned in favor of Whisper’s spaghetti and meatballs, excepting Nyx who has been enjoying the Frank’s Franks. He spreads out the information, asking Threshold if all the medical visits are normal, which he says it isn’t, especially the anesthetic and that it may be them forcing her to use her powers. But considering that she’s likely to use her powers for money, it’s hard to say. Wirerat runs a check on things going in and out of the prison and gets a hit on a vehicle, a non-descript GMC van from the mid-2000s that’s covered in IR reflecting paint causing problems with the camera. It seems like it’s just one body bag that is getting pulled from the building every time. It’s theorized that Fracture’s powers are some kind of quantum Star Trek bull and there may be some kind of signature they can track duplicates with.

Nyx hands over the note, suggesting that maybe if it’s an exact duplicate, there might be DNA to lift off of it but there isn’t, just some fingerprints that Threshold gets a hit on from an orphanage, oddly enough. Taken a few years back, a girl named Lindy McCall that completely fell off the grid shortly after leaving the orphanage. It seems like records were both stopped and removed from the net, like she got involved with some kind of Greenpeace meets PETA organization called The Green Path. She went in and broken some animals out of a private lab, was arrested, released, and gone. While they work on that, Nyx checks out Robertson’s rap sheets. Fairly normal for a Dot Com Stock Broker that lost everything in a bubble. Nyx comments on things but not much else.

Wirerat checks up what he can, looking over Lindy’s past and if there was anyone in the orphanage she may have talked to when things turned bad but only turned up that she was the stereotypical quiet girl. Feeding her photo into data recognition, but nothing recent comes up. The height and weight may fit the edited hole in videos if she were older. He moves to age up an old photo of her to pass around at the prison to see if there’s any guard there that recognizes her and then passes out the photograph to the rest of the team.

Aftermath

The very next day, Threshold senses that something isn’t right, but he isn’t sure what isn’t right and no clue what it is, just that it isn’t right which he alerts the rest of the group to it, when the group start feeling a rumbling and quaking and Threshold feels somewhat sick, like something is screwing with space and time.
